The MLI Program Commissioning Standards

The MLIP (Master Lighting Integrator Program) Standards outline the minimum programming, configuration, documentation and commissioning requirements that a Master Lighting Integrator (MLI) must meet to maintain certification under the MLIP.

They exist to ensure consistent technical quality, system reliability, and industry-leading best practice across all MLI-delivered projects.

MLIs must meet the following requirements for every eligible MLIP projects.

1.1 Firmware and System Versions

Application Controllers must be commissioned and delivered to the client with firmware versions that are reasonably current and no older than the Recommended zencontrol Application Controller Firmware available at the time of client handover.

1.2 Addressing and Device Identification

All DALI addresses must be matched correctly to their corresponding zencontrol device IDs.

DALI addressing must be undertaken in strict numerical physical order according to the drawings.

Random, mixed-up or disordered addressing is not permitted.

All Application Controller IDs must follow a logical numbering convention based on project structure—for example:

  1. By floor

  2. By building

  3. By tenancy

  4. House database vs. tenant database separation

1.3 Profiles and Programming Quality

Appropriate lighting profiles must be configured, assigned and tested.

Basic-level programming is not acceptable. Scene, profile and control logic must align with project design intent and MLIP best practice.

1.4 System Documentation and Plan View

All control gears, sensors, switches, controllers and devices must be placed on a clear, legible zencontrol Plan View.

Plan views must accurately represent:

  1. Device location

  2. Device types

  3. Controller / gear IDs

  4. DALI line layout (if applicable)

1.5 Device Labelling

Every device must have a detailed location label, including:

  1. Room / area reference

  2. Controller association

  3. DALI address / zencontrol ID

Application Controllers must have explicit, precise labels to ensure future servicing and auditing.

1.6 Emergency Lighting Requirements (where applicable)

If the project includes DALI-2 Exit or Emergency devices, the MLI must:

  • Configure recurring Emergency test schedules in accordance with standards and client requirements.

  • Ensure Emergency test reports are generating correctly at handover.

1.7 Site Information

The system must contain an accurate:

  1. Project address, and

  2. Latitude and longitude within zencontrol settings for correct time zone, astronomical, and location-based behaviours.

1.8 System Access

  1. The Master Lighting Integrator (mli@lumenresources.com.au) zencontrol account must be invited to the system as an administrator for MLIP verification purposes.

  2. At project completion and post-DLP (Defects Liability Period), the customer, client representative or building owner must have:

    • A valid zencontrol user account, and

    • Appropriate access level for viewing and managing their system.
